What is Process Control?
A practical explanation of control or regie in SAS.
On this page

Process Control means that a process is not only automated, but also explicit, visible, steerable, and explainable.
The control cycle
| Capability | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Design & Model | What is the process, and what decisions or dependencies exist? |
| Orchestrate & Execute | What must happen, in which order, and through which people or systems? |
| Monitor & Control | What is running, where is attention required, and which SLA is at risk? |
| Work & Collaborate | Who must act, with what context and deadline? |
| Analyze & Improve | Where is time lost, where does rework occur, and what should change? |
| Govern & Assure | Which roles, permissions, policies, security rules, and evidence apply? |
Future control components
The Process Orchestrator direction includes additional capabilities that make control practical:
- decision matrices and conditional rules;
- policy and entitlement definitions;
- expected-versus-actual comparison;
- recurring or event-driven Operational Activities;
- evidence and compliance reporting;
- AI-assisted explanations and living process documentation.
These capabilities are product direction and are not presented as currently delivered functionality.
