Why onboarding automation is not yet IAM control
A runbook can create an account. SAS connects policy, execution, verification, recovery and evidence across the complete employee lifecycle.
Creating an account from a TOPdesk request is useful automation. It is not yet a controlled employee lifecycle.
The happy path is only the beginning
TOPdesk can register a request and an Azure runbook can create an account, groups or licences in Microsoft. That works for one predictable action. The control challenge begins when source data is wrong, a person changes role, access is temporary, a target application fails or a supplier still needs to complete a task.
A runbook executes. SAS makes sure the chain is correct.
SAS does not replace HR, TOPdesk, Microsoft or existing scripts. It orchestrates these building blocks, reads results back, detects exceptions and starts controlled recovery. SAS then rechecks and records the complete process.
Start small, design for the complete lifecycle
Start with one department and one application. Demonstrate a joiner, a role change, a leaver and deliberately one failed action. Detection, recovery, rechecking and an audit trail distinguish isolated onboarding automation from IAM under control.
